The CPF’s Laboratory Department plays a key role in ensuring that safety, production and environmental standards are being met. Crude oil and water analysis by the laboratory provides crucial results at a facility where large-scale separation processes are daily undertaken. The laboratory also regularly monitors the efficiency of facilities at the CPF, including the topping plant, the water system and the oil system.
International industry standards are used by the Laboratory Department to provide quality assurance for all chemicals received by and used at the CPF. When chemicals are delivered to the site, they are carefully analyzed to ensure that they meet PetroMasila’s strict health and quality standards.
The Laboratory Department plays key roles in not only making sure that the crude oil which reaches the export terminal will be acceptably water-free, but also that water which is re-injected into the ground to maintain reservoir pressure is free of oil.
The laboratory certifies that water which is pumped below the surface won’t harm the environment. Numerous stringent tests are constantly performed to make sure that no re-injected water mixes with fresh water, and also that fresh water layers contain pure, drinkable water.
