PetroMasila’s steadfast dedication to a safe workplace has led them to seek out standards adopted by industry leaders. A complete utilization of Process Safety Management (PSM) provides a working model for PetroMasila employees in how to remain productive while also caring both for their own health and that of the environment. Strict adherence to PSM guidelines has placed PetroMasila in a leading position in the region as far as safe practices in the oil industry are concerned.
Such standards are not only set for PetroMasila employees, but for all contractors and subcontractors working at PetroMasila facilities.
Recognizing that injuries can occur when on-site vehicles are driving as slow as 10 kph, PetroMasila management instituted a strict seatbelt-wearing policy that allows for zero exceptions. In addition to holding driving safety meetings, a campaign has also been started in which drivers’ speeds are monitored.
On-site equipment and facilities are also optimized for safety. At both the terminal and the CPF, fire water tanks are always kept at maximum capacity in case there is a fire, and pumps are ready to go with 100,000 gallon per minute capacities. Floating roofs on the crude oil tanks remove any gap between the oil and the roof, leaving no room for oxygen, thereby significantly reducing the possibility of fires.
